Women and Diversity Lunch talk

On the occasion of the International Women’s day 2019, the French Embassy in Qatar and Maison de la France held an event on March 4th entitled « Women and Diversity lunch Talks » at the W Hotel.  This special get-together event supported by Total, Alstom, Technip FMC, Vinci Energies, United International Trading and Contracting, and CCI France Qatar, gathered more than 120 participants.

Dr Sheikha bint Abdulla al-Misnad opened the talk with very inspiring thoughts regarding the prominent role of women in Qatar, even before the Oil&Gas industry, and highlighted the progress of women in Qatar thanks to education. She insisted on the fact that the government of Qatar continues to encourage students to obtain education wherever in the world they want to.

The second speech was from Tanguy De Belair, director of Diversity, Vinci Group, who shared with us his vision of ‘What is Diversity?’

The first panel consisted of prominent women, included Dr Clare Beckett-McInroy, Executive Coach at Qatar Financial Centre; Maryam al-Kaab, Chief Administrator and Personnel Officer at North Oil Company; and Dr Noora Fetais, Director of Kindi Centre for Computing Research, College of Engineering Qatar University. The second panel had human resource managers, including Wafa al-Safaar, Lead CSR and Institutional Relations at Total; Navdeep Lamba, HR Manager at Thales; Alen Isac, Deputy HR Manager at Alstom.

After the panel discussions concluded, the final interactive session with the audience served to share success stories and promote the involvement of both women and men to improve equality and diversity in our societies.
