The delegation of French students marks the Qatar-France Cultural Year

DOHA, Qatar, 23 janvier 2020 /PRNewswire/ --

The third edition of the Arab Innovation Academy (AIA), a collaboration between Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), member of the Qatar Foundation for Research, Development and Innovation (QF RDI), and the European Innovation Academy (EIA), welcomed 10 French students for the first time, as part of the Qatar-France cultural year.

The AIA is the first and largest entrepreneurship program in the Pan Arab region, a collaboration between QSTP and the EIA - considered to be the largest extreme entrepreneurship program in the world. The third edition of the AIA, which took place from January 7 to 20, gave 190 budding tech entrepreneurs exposure to real experiences on how to develop and launch their new tech companies into a real market. Over 40 top mentors and coaches from the United States, the United Kingdom, the EU, Singapore, the Middle East, and Qatar trained participants on all aspects of creation from their own business, culminating in a final intensive day of presentations by 30 teams. Henri Gleveau, French student in software engineering at the University of South Brittany, one of the first participants in the AIA, said: “It was a really great experience: meeting people from different cultures and building this product together. I am very proud of our team and all that we have accomplished so far. "The mentorship is very positive," he added. “The idea for Subearth, our startup, is [for people with hearing loss] to have a small box built into the glasses that can display captions in real time when they are chatting with someone. The QSTP innovation ecosystem has supported many tech startups over the past 10 years, leveraging the network of EIA global mentors from Silicon Valley and leading global institutions, participants in AIA have developed their ideas for their startups and learned the skills required to become global entrepreneurs.

Hayfa Al Abdulla, Director of Innovation at QSTP, said: “The AIA is one of the most successful platforms for promoting entrepreneurial talent and innovative ideas in the Arab region. For this edition, we were delighted to welcome the delegation of French students, which has truly reinforced the diversity of the pool of exceptional talent that the AIA constantly attracts. The AIA 2020 concluded with a QSTP graduation ceremony on January 20, during which three winners were announced.
