Qatar's Labor Law Reforms: a conversation with the international business community
Conference organised by the Ministry of Labor, the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the International Labor Organisation
The Ministry of Labour, Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (QCCI) and the ILO convened a roundtable with representatives of the international business community to discuss the reforms and synergies to work together for the benefit of both employers and workers.
In recent years, the Government of Qatar has embarked on a comprehensive labour reform agenda in line with the National Vision 2030. These reforms will contribute to the creation of a competitive, diversified and knowledge-based economy. Legislation and systems have been introduced that have generated significant changes in the labour market in areas such as labour mobility, wage protection, dispute resolution, labour migration, and worker-management dialogue.
Some French companies initiatives have been highlighted and hailed.
Qatari entities and business councils will soon meet again to work on suggestions and recommendations.
