THE RITZ-CARLTON, DOHA IS DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THE ARRIVAL OF ITS NEW RITZ KIDS GARDEN

Placed at the heart of Qatari life and as a Green Key Certified hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, Doha’s city credentials have been invigorated by the creation of a beautiful garden where natural homegrown produce is cultivated. Capturing the imagination and promoting the importance of sustainability, this new addition has been specially designed to bring the power of plants to children, as well as supply the hotel’s culinary team with a selection of herbs, fruit and vegetables to adorn The Lagoon offering, that is set to open in the upcoming month.

Custom-built using pre-used wooden tables, the raised beds house a selection of eggplants, tomatoes, cucumbers, chilies and more, alongside fruit trees, including banana and papaya. Planting has been considered to encourage curiosity for young minds, and as a valuable addition to the culinary mix, with perennial and annual herbs sown, like lemon balm, Mexican mint, Kaffir lime leaves and lavender. Encouraging the most productive growth and mindful of recycling, the team of gardeners produce homemade fertilizer from discarded breakfast eggshells and used coffee beans.

The Executive Chef David Dalhaus commented, “We are thrilled to launch the Ritz Kids Garden, and we’ve worked together to build a flourishing garden that thrives in our hot climate. It is a great opportunity for children to connect with nature and learn about sustainable living while having fun. We’ve worked together to build a flourishing garden that thrives in our hot climate. With his exceptional skills and expertise, he has effectively led the landscaping team to transform the initial idea into a tangible reality. It is impressive to witness the remarkable results achieved under Sabar's guidance. His knowledge in horticulture has been instrumental in creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing landscape. The project's success can be attributed to the cohesive efforts of the entire team, with Sabar's leadership and horticultural proficiency being the cornerstone of this accomplishment.”

Aside from generating certain ingredients for the culinary team, the garden is a valued addition to the hotel’s younger clientele. Bringing the Ritz Kids philosophy to life in the destination, the oasis has been orchestrated to spark curiosity and provide ample opportunity for young gardeners to discover the endless benefits of cultivating green space. The hotel offers a gardening workshop twice a week for children, where they can engage in picking herbs and vegetables for their al fresco dinner, learn about the various plants, and interact with the Ladies & Gentlemen who have contributed to the creation of the garden.
